The PCC are delighted to report another successful event took place at ThoringtonChurch, its Art Exhibition and Sale of Paintings on June 12 and 13 2010 was well attended and more than £3500 raised over the weekend.
Bridget Cousins - choirleader and members of
the Halesworth Community Choir opened this
event and really got everyone singing along, great atmosphere and thanks to Bridget again for all her hard work and enthusiasm.
There were hits like ' the Ballad of Betsy Butcher', 'Daisy's Train' and other songs celebrating life in this corner of East Anglia.Children enjoyed art activities led by Octavia Smith and there was delicious lunches and teas served by Liz and her team of helpers. Liam and Aileen also worked hard with their liquid refreshments so well done everyone..
The Church itself was filled with a mix of work and everyone thought the usual high standards were maintained so thank you to all who helped set up, the artists themselves and Viv Burns for being the mainstay of the event.
This
popular local event is organized each year by Thorington's Trish Gower and Viv Burns. They first started the Art
Exhibition and Sale of Paintings because they wanted to bring Thorington
residents together and raise money for a
very special place, whilst having fun. "We just wanted to try something
different" explains Trish "and we're delighted at how popular it's become. Each year we try to think of something new and different .. ".
