Worship at St Andrew's Church, Wissett
We closely follow the liturgical year so during festivals, for instance, the Service pattern does vary. As well as Easter and Christmas we celebrate many special occasions during the year. Our Patronal Service on St. Andrew’s Day, 30th November is usually an evening Eucharist followed by fish sandwiches and wine.
Rogation Sunday we walk to or from Spexhall are rewarded at the end of the Service with a delicious tea.
Shrove Tuesday we hold a ‘clipping’ Service where we hug the outside of the Church building by joining handsto embrace the building to show we care . the Salvation Army Band come and play for us and then join us all for soup and masses of pancakes in the Village Hall.
Harvest Festival is celebrated on a Friday evening as is traditional for a rural community in this part of Suffolk. The Church is full of fruit, vegetables and flowers as we give thanks to God for His bountiful harvest to us. This is followed by a Harvest Supper of ham, salads and apple puddings.
At the end of a fund raising weekend during the year we like to hold a Songs of Praise which is popular.
Our aim throughout the year is to provide a range of Worship with something to suit all tastes. We are always open to new ideas. We also aim to be a welcoming and caring Church so that we can share God’s love with all.
