Welcome to St Mary's Church, Halesworth
St. Mary’s has open doors all year round for to sit, to pray or to think. The Lady Chapel offers an opportunity to light a candle. We are an inclusive Church and proud of it. The quality and quantity of the worship available at St. Mary’s is strong. Always developing and finding new forms of worship to be able to grow in faith and love to God. People come together and share Common Worship – whether the rite used is CW or ASB.
The Blyth Valley ‘Worship Advisory Committee’ have recently re-launched a number of service books to bring inline what we as a congregation fed into the WAC during 2010. The Local Ecumenical Partnership Vision statement says we will model in our common life the words from the Epistle to the Ephesians: “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all” – We aim to seek to be ever more truly part of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
We have a warm and inviting church that has served the community for centuries, which is steeped in history and sits at the heart of the Blyth Valley Team Ministry which is made up of 11 Churches. St. Mary’s has an active, and welcoming worshipping presence to those in times of joy, trouble, for weddings, baptisms, funerals and to celebrate Christmas, Eastertide and Harvest. We offer a variety of worship styles including, The book of common prayer, common worship, Iona, Taize, Choral Evensong and many more.
All to the glory of God. However, imaginative plans are now being laid for today’s and tomorrow’s needs, which will enable the church to serve the community better, through providing appropriate facilities; and also meet the needs for worship in today’s world so that people’s hearts will be more richly lifted up to their God.
Also we have a Local Ecumenical Partnership programme with our Methodist brothers and sisters underway and as the two congregations move together and become one, the Church of St. Mary will grow and become a centre for worship in the heart of the community. Come and see!
